Installation at new talents-biennale cologne
„Unprepared Garden“ is a site-specific installation in the garden of a electric power transformation substation in the city-centre of Cologne and was shown at „new talents-biennale cologne 2014“. The environment of the substation is characterized by the surrounding office blocks that operate 24/7.
The installation shows a corridor lined with typical office-ceiling liners (panels) and lamps which are constantly on are integrated in the panel walls. This corridor is held and supported by a scaffold construction which in turn is a reference to the building boom .
It is an interior room placed in a outdoor situation: A visual cut and paste scene.
The sound of birds, the gurgling of water being pumped through the pond and the permanent hum of the distribution station accumulate in a surreal collage of sound (and smell) that pierce through and climb over the white panelled walls.
This installation symbolises the praxis of transgression in a materialised form. The experience of what you cross and how you cross something is bound to the experience of transgression.
