Life Hack, 2021
Water transfer print on second hand house numbers (ones and zeros) made of wood, plastic, ceramic, metal, granite, enamel, 59 parts, 56 × 440 cm / and their eyes became sharper
House numbers - which formerly marked or were supposed to mark living spaces, and thus concretely refer to real places:homes where people lived, loved and dreamed - are ordered here into a two-line chain of ones and zeros.
They are arranged to spell the term Life Hack in the binary code UTF-8, which consists of a different sequence of zeros and ones for every letter of the alphabet. Based on two different symbols (0 and 1) and encoded in this way, the „simple message for complicated life situations“ Life Hack without any approach to a solution becomes only a signal and nothing else, pointing only to itself and into the void.
The original essence of the used house numbers recedes behind the gridded water transfer print that covers their bodies, denying their individual appearance and systematically amplifying their homogeneity.
