THEORY ON A ROPE I/II/III is a kinetic installation, in which three rubber ropes swing like skipping ropes, each one powered individually by a window wiper motor. One end of the rope is attached to the wall, while the other is fixed to the motor which is fastened to its stand, free standing in the room. The motor is powered by a PSU (power supply unit). The foot of the stand is secured by black sandbags. THEORY ON A ROPE is a site unspecific installation, that uses the space, its characteristics and the materiality to produce an individual sound scape. The ropes slap against the floors and walls or swing freely in the air. The rubber leaves marks on the surfaces. The different rotary speeds create a drifting rhythm and the sound manages to combine its qualities.
